Indict the Gulf War Liars
Finally, all the prior Pentagon, Dept. of Defense, VA, and White House reports denying evidence linking the Gulf War veteran's diseases and illnesses with chemical and biological exposures have been refuted. Thanks to the G.A.O., the government's watchdog agency, those irresponsible, face-saving, incompetent reports are challenged and branded as just plain wrong.
Now the institutional liars in the Pentagon, DoD, and White House committees who prepared and defended those reports must be indicted. They lied to the Congress in the Sub-Committee hearings and to the American people. They knowingly stonewalled the investigations. Their deceit and duplicity is criminal and they must be prosecuted as criminals.
While they published, Gulf War veterans perished. Much needed time and funding has been lost, tragically delaying the determination of causes and, most importantly, treatments and cures.
On May 29, Ret. Gen. Schwarzkopf defended his position that there isn't any evidence linking service in the Gulf with the illnesses by stating that "there have been six independent medical studies" that found no link. It's time now for Schwarzkopf, Powell, Cheney, Bush, Clinton and the Pentagon lackeys to get out from under the obvious cover-up and stand up for the vets.
Consider this: we actually lost the Gulf War, and our so-called leaders are certainly no heroes. Only the suffering and continually courageous veterans are the heroes of that war. It's not merely a question of compensation to the vets; it's the need for life-saving treatment for the vets. They must be helped now. Start with indicting those responsible. Get our national priorities straight.
